The Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education accredits degree granting programs that meet the nationally accepted Standards. The interest of enrolled students and the public are served by the program undergoing an assessment process to determine the compliance level of the program.
CAHIIM recommends that a comprehensive needs assessment be completed prior to the enrollment of students. The review should cover the following aspects of the program: 1. Resources. 2. Local and regional need. 3. Curriculum and faculty requirements.
